Results Information

All Assessment dates are published in the Semester and Term Dates.

For 2025/26 Academic Year:

• The January exam period will run from 5th January - 23rd January 2026.
• The March supplementary period (for PGT Jan students) will run from 18th March - 27th March 2026.
• The May-June exam period will run from 11th May - 5th June 2026.
• The August supplementary exam period will run from 3rd August - 14th August 2026. 

*Please note dates may differ for students following the programmes Engineering Leadership Management and Sustainable Engineering Management for International Development

Results will be released on the below dates:

• The results for September 2024 PGT students for their Part 2 (dissertation) will be 19th November 2025.
• The results from the 2025/26 Semester 1 taught modules will unfreeze from 9th February 2026.
• The results for January 2025 PGT students who sit supplementary exams in March 2026 will be released on 5th May 2026.
• The results for Undergraduate Finalist students and Postgraduate Taught students will be released on 2nd July 2026. 
• The results for Progressing Students (non-Finalist) will be released on 13th July 2026.
• The results from the August Supplementary Period will be released on 10th September 2026.

• The enrolment timetable can be accessed here. 

To view your results please sign into your MyUni account and access the University Intranet. Then click on the ‘Course Details’ section on the lefthand side menu and select ‘2025 modules’ for the 2025-26 Academic year.

For taught programmes which started in September 2025

You will see the marks for each module with available results throughout the academic year. You can expand each module to see the assessment component marks.

Please note marks are provisional until confirmed by the End of Year Assessment boards in July 2026. 

For postgraduate taught programmes which started in January 2025

For January 2025 Entry students, the results released in February 2026 will be your final, confirmed results your programme. When final results are released you will see:

• Your end of level decision i.e. the final outcome of your academic year.
• And a link to guidance about the outcome you have received. Please ensure you access the outcome guidance and read it carefully.

You can download an official signed and stamped transcript of all your results so far from your University Intranet account by selecting the ‘Course Details’ tab on the left hand menu and then clicking on the ‘Transcript’ link on the right hand side of the page.   

Your award certificate and transcript is also available via the Gradintel system. If you have not already done so, you may activate your Gradintel account by logging in to your MyUni dashboard and accessing the Gradintel area. To activate your Gradintel account, please look for an activation email delivered to your student email account. Once your account has been activated you will have permanent access to your certificate and transcript and be able to securely share them with third parties. 

When you view your results, the Level Decision indicates your overall outcome for the year. Next to your decision, you can also access a decision letter which contains an explanation of your outcome. Please click the blue text which says 'An explanation of your Level Decision can be found by clicking here'.

Module marks are calculated by giving each component mark the specific weighting assigned to it. For Engineering students, these weightings should be detailed in the Engineering Part 2 Handbooks for your year and programme. For Science programmes, please check Canvas module pages for information, and contact your Module Coordinators directly for any specific queries.

Example:

Module Mark = (56 x 0.7) + (62 x 0.1) + (69 x 0.2) = 39.2 + 6.2 + 13.8 = 59.2

Your year average takes into account all credit-bearing module marks. The relevant weighting is applied to each module given the amount of credits it is worth i.e. a 20-credit module will count twice as much towards your year average as a 10-credit module.

If you have a module with ‘QF’ as the outcome, this means that you have failed to qualify for a pass in the module even if your overall module mark is above the pass mark threshold. This is because there is a component of the module which you are required to pass or attain a certain mark in before you can progress or receive your degree. The reason a pass or given mark is required in certain components is to ensure that specific learning outcomes for the module are met. If you have a module with a ‘QF’, you cannot compensate it.

For Engineering programes, specific module rules are identified in the Part 2 Handbook for your programme or on Canvas.

For Science programmes, please consult with your module coordinators directly for any queries related to specific modules.

Note for all programmes

For a small number of modules that are based on practical/lab work, group work, or design work, it will not be possible to have supplementary assessments and still meet learning outcomes, and for these modules there are either additional criteria to be eligible for redemption, or it is not possible to offer failure redemption. Please refer to the module descriptions in the Engineering Part 2 Handbooks for Engineering programmes, and please refer to each Canvas Modules page for Science programmes to see which modules have additional criteria for redemption and which modules are not redeemable. If you are unsure please check with your module coordinator. 

This should be taken into account when reviewing the criteria for re-sit assessments, outlined below. 

Undergraduate Engineering Finalists (excluding BSc programmes)

• All Engineering modules are 'Core' and must be passed in order to award an accredited BEng/MEng degree in accordance with the Engineering Assessment Regulations. 
• Bachelor/ Master of Engineering Finalist students who have not met the minimum requirements to graduate with an accredited degree, may be offered the opportunity to complete a re-sit in a maximum of 40 credits of failed modules, where supplementary assessments are possible. All re-sits will occur during the August Supplementary period.
• All students must achieve an overall level average of at least 35%, in line with the relevant standard assessment regulations.
• All supplementary assessment marks will be capped unless appropriate Extenuating Circumstances apply.
• For students enrolled on a BSc programme, this is a Science programme, please refer to the guidance for Science students below. 

Undergraduate Science Finalists 

• All Science programmes may tolerate a maximum of 40 credits of failed modules to a mark of 0. 
• Re-sits are not awarded during the Final year of study, unless previously agreed due to an approved Assessment Deferral request due to extenuating circumstances. 

Undergraduate Non-Finalists (All taught programmes) 

• At the discretion of the End of Year assessment board, students may be awarded a maximum of 60 credits of re-sits in failed modules, where an assessment is available.
• Failure of more than 60 credits will mean that no re-sits will be granted and the student may be offered a Repeat Level decision provided that they have passed a minimum of 20 credits, and have not already repeated the level of study. 
• Any student who does not achieve a minimum of 20 credits of passed modules will be withdrawn.    
• For Year 3 students on 4-year MEng programmes, the following applies for resits:
  • Students are entitled to 20 credits of resits, and must have an overall average of 55% once they have completed those resits. Therefore students on MEng year 3 must pass 100 credits in order to be granted resits.  If they do not pass 100 credits they will be transferred onto the BEng programme and will follow the finalist rules for resits and degree award.

Postgraduate Students 

• Postgraduate students who began in January 2025: Students will be eligible to re-sit any failed modules from the last semester (Sept 2025 - Jan 2026 modules) in the March 2026 Supplementary period, along with any deferred exams.
• Postgraduate students who began in September 2025: For modules where a redemption is possible, postgraduate students are eligible to re-sit any module they have failed during the August Supplementary period.

No, Swansea University does not allow elective resits.

In the event that you re-sit a failed module and achieve a lower mark, the University will apply the ‘Best Mark Principle’ and your original assessment mark will be included on your transcript and in your level/award calculation.

Undergraduate and September Entry Postgraduate programmes: For students on undergraduate and September Entry Postgraduate programmes all results from Semester 1 are provisional, and will not be confirmed until final results for the year are released in July. Once final confirmed results are released, if you think that they may not be correct, you will have the option to request an Accuracy of Published Marks query in July. This process is only available after results are released in June/July and September and NOT in February as marks are not yet finalised.

January 2025 Postgraduate programmes: For Postgraduate students who started a masters programme in January 2025, the results released in March 2026 will be the final confirmed results for your programme. If you think that a mark may not be correct, you may request an Accuracy of Published Marks check now, within 10 working days of the release date of results. Before submitting any request, please read the information below.

The Accuracy of Published Marks procedure is available to all students who feel that one or more of their module marks may not be correct. 

• The process will ensure that marks recorded for assessment components and the overall module are free from administrative and/or arithmetical error e.g. that marks have been transferred into the Exam System correctly, that marks have been added up correctly on an exam script etc.
• It does not involve assessments being re-marked nor will it provide further information as to the reasons for particular marks having been awarded.
• Please be aware that module marks can decrease as well as increase following an Accuracy of Published Marks Check Request.
• Students must complete a Request to Confirm Accuracy of Published Marks form online, no later than 10 working-days from the release date of your results (this form will be open for submissions from the day that results are released).
• The faculty has a response target of 5 working-days to provide an outcome. However, please be aware that we deal with a high volume of requests and may not be able to meet this target in every case.

If you want to appeal against a decision taken by the University Examination Board, you can submit an Academic Appeal Form to the Student Cases Team following the publication of your End of Year result. Please refer to the University's Academic Appeal advice page and contact the Student's Union Advice Centre for support with your application.
