Enrolment for students continuing their studies

You should plan to arrive and have somewhere to live within commutable distance of Swansea in time to study a campus-based course.

To keep your student record active it is important to enrol by your teaching start date or research course start to gain access to teaching, online learning, digital course materials, and receive a certificate, see the enrolment timetable for dates.

International and Non UK/Irish Students

Registration

In person registration on campus

It is important to register in person your non-UK/Irish passport and right to study immigration documents or eVisa share code as soon as possible after your arrival with Visa Compliance. When your documents have been registered you can then complete the other steps of enrolment online.

Remote registration

If you are on a placement abroad, studying your course wholly overseas or distance/online learning, please email a copy of the passport page with your photo and include your student number to Visa Compliance, who will advise you on the next steps.

Visa right to study check

Check your visa has not expired and covers the duration of your course. If you need to extend your visa, contact our International Visa Team as soon as possible.

Before enrolling online, complete a right to study check by registering your passport and visa in person. Otherwise, if you are studying from abroad email a copy of your passport to visa.advice@swansea.ac.uk and they will contact you about the next steps.

Enrolment Steps

Start enrolling: log in to your Swansea University My account tap the Intranet app and Start Enrolment link.

The enrolment page you completed as a new student will pre-populate most of the sections.

It is your responsibility to check each section in case any of your personal details have changed since your first time enrolling.

Term-Time Address

If your term-time address has changed since the previous year, you will need to update this.

Modules

The Module selection tab will need to be filled in. Check and select online the modules you will be studying (where applicable).

You may have compulsory modules as well as optional ones. Make sure that you have selected enough modules to equal 120 credits and that your module selection is split evenly over each semester.

Tuition Fees

It is important to check your student finance loan, bursary, scholarship or grant in place to pay on your behalf.

Funded students
- If you have a 100% student loan or University bursary, scholarship or grant to pay your tuition fee on your behalf then you will not need to make a payment when you enrol online.
- If you have other sponsorship, for example an embassy or employer or trust is paying towards your fees send a Confirmation of Sponsorship form or sponsor letter by email to studentfinance@swansea.ac.uk and the Student Records Office will email you when the details are recorded and you can complete online enrolment.
Self-funding students
- In the fee payment step of online enrolment you can:
- Pay 100% of a UK home fee by card or set up a direct debit to pay later in three instalments. For September entry, the first direct debit payment is due 1 November.
- Pay 50% of an international overseas fee by card or use Convera to make an international payment. For September entry, the first international fee payment is due at enrolment.

Withdrawal for non-payment

It is very important to have sufficient funding to pay for your studies on time and avoid the risk of being withdrawn from the university. For details of when to pay browse payment schedules and deadlines.

After Enrolment

Attend your School Induction and welcome events

Undergraduate and taught postgraduate induction

Meet staff and make friends at your and other welcome events.

Attend an induction talk about your studies, tutors, module timetable, health and safety, IT facilities.

Check your teaching timetable and attend class at the start of term.

By the start of term you should have chosen your modules, normally 120 credits for full time study or 60 credits if you are part time. If you need to change your module selection, ask your school student support team for advice before signing up for a module.

Research student induction

Attend an induction talk about the research management system (RMS e:Vision app), engagement and attendance, health and safety, IT facilities and your work plan.

Throughout your candidature the RMS system will send out monthly email alerts about signing off your engagement and every 3 months you will need to enter details on RMS for your supervisor and progression meetings. Ask your supervisor to sign off the first of your monthly Research Management System (RMS) engagement and attendance events.

Remember to record your confirmation of candidature in the Research Management System (RMS) and sign off with your supervisor in the third month of study.
